Marietta Small

Mrs. Marietta Small is a long-time East Flatbush resident and has worked tirelessly to build and uplift her community for more than 45 years. Examples of her leadership and service include co-founding the Husain Institute, serving as President of the Tenants Association of Flatbush Gardens, and bringing the Surplus Food Program to her community.

Ms. Small is the recipient of numerous awards for her outstanding community services and leadership, including the Congressional Record Award, the Public Advocate Award, and the Outstanding Public Service Award for the 58th Assembly District.

Now retired, Ms. Small worked for the NYS court system for many years and was the first female African -American to hold the position of Public Administratrix (Commissioner) for King’s County. For many years, Ms. Small was a voting member of the Community Board 17. Currently, she serves as the Assistance Correspondence Secretary of the 67th Precinct Council. She is also a member of the Triumphant Full Gospel Assembly in Brooklyn.
