Social Worker (Housing)

Job Summary: Responsible for clinical assessments, short-term mental health counseling, and group interventions and recreational activities for clients in scatter-site supportive housing program.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conducts evidence-based clinical assessments
  • Provides mental health counseling and connects clients to long-term mental health services
  • Responsible for implementation and facilitation of group programming, including tenant meetings, group workshops and interventions, community-building activities, and recreational activities
  • Represents Housing Department at Community Advisory Board meetings
  • Provides crisis intervention, de-escalation, and conflict resolution services
  • Emphasizes harm reduction and motivational interviewing approaches in team meetings and case conferences
  • Collaborates with case management staff to clinically inform interventions
  • Is responsible for on-call operations of Emergency Hotline on a rotating basis
  • Supervises interns as necessary
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work and current NYS licensure as Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
  • Knowledge of issues related to substance use, recovery, and mental health
