Bridging Access to Care Announces Expansion of Prevention and Support Services for Women and Launches UPWISE: Uplifting Women in Support and Education

UPWISE is a three-fold comprehensive prevention, education and supportive care program at Bridging Access to Care designed primarily for Women.

Health Education: A holistic approach to supportive groups, individual counseling, social programs, parenting groups, and direct internal and external linkages to HIV testing, STD testing, primary care, clinical referrals, women’s wellness, care and treatment, prevention methods for women, viral load suppression, and substance use prevention and education to help women increase their knowledge and capabilities. Linkages to PrEP and PEP, safer sex groups, workshops, communication skills for condom negotiations, and creating healthy relationships are offered throughout the year by our trained Health Educators.

Social Support: If you, a friend or family member are facing challenges such as HIV status, housing, immigration, former incarceration, commercial sex work or mental health, our service programs are supported by a trained and professional staff of counselors and case managers to help women achieve their personal goals.

Workforce Development, Empowerment and Training: The UPWISE program at BAC is to encourage and assist women (whether you are homeless, formerly incarcerated, low-income, or an immigrant) in their efforts to succeed in the workplace and in society. We offer comprehensive vocational and referral assistance, training, job placement assistance to ensure successful transition to work and society. BAC offers a computer station lab designed to assist those who are seeking employment, job training, or improve general computer skills.
